I remember the moment I chose to leave my OB/GYN and link arms with the ladies of Lone Star OB?GYN Nurse Midwives. I was excited and a bit scared. I was nervous if I could tolerate the pain. Although I opted not to use pain medication, the option is still there....yes, even when you use a midwife! Outside of the pain, it was equally important to me to have a medical team who bedside manners were to my standard. After my first consultation with one of the midwives, I knew I had made the right choice. The staff at Lone Star midwives were not only concerned about by pregnancy, but about me. As a first time mom I had a lot of random questions, and they were always answered. The midwives knew me by name and remembered the topics we had discussed at previous visits.
In my third trimester I experienced some complications, and I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to stick to my original birthing plan; however when it came time to have my daughter we stayed very close to my original birthing plan. Even with Pitocin my midwife and doula staff were very patient - I labored on the floor, on a ball and even in the shower. I was always in control, and I was given many options. I am so thankful that I chose Lone Star Nurse Midwives. I got to achieve a personalized birthing experience that I will never forget.
